Graphic Design - Task 3
The third task was to work in to my backgrounds by choosing my favourite composition from my thumbnails. I worked mostly from looking at the object itself. My first drawing was by using graphite which enabled me to create a strong dark line.
Drawing with ink on a large stick gave me less control to get the text as much like it appeared on the packaging. However, the end result of it being quite messy and some lines appearing more thicker than others from where the ink ran out was something i admired about this piece.
I used my left hand to draw with a grey pastel to create this piece. I found it easier than i thought, most likely for the face it was chinese symbols and not actual lettering.
My final typography piece was by sticking down tape on to my background in the shape of the text/lettering and then using shoe pollish to smudge all over the area. Once i pealed away the tape i was left with a light area of the word as the shoe pollish obviously untouched these parts. This method was new to me and was the one i enjoyed the most as the detailing around each letter is something i found most interesting.
As a whole piece i am more than happy with all of my typography experiements. They are all very different and show that i am adjustable in ways to work with materials and medias. The typography exercise is something i thoroughly enjoyed.
