Ceramics - Task 1
The first task for the ceramics project was by making a coiled pot. I obviously began by rolling out coiled strips ready to build up my pot. I found it easier to flatten my coils slightly before adding them up in layers as it was then easier to blend each coil together.
One thing which was particularly difficult was smoothening the clay. Using a metal kidney helped however it was difficult to do the inside of the pot, especially nearer the bottom.
As i continued to layer up my coiles my pot began to look more and more like it should.
To straighten the top edge of my pot i scored a line with a pointed knife.
I then cut all the way through the clay to reveal a strong sharp flat edge, which gave my pot the finishing touch.
