Week 5 - Graphic Design - Artist Research - David Carson

Graphic Design - David Carson

David Carson was born on the 8th september in 1954 and is an American graphic designer. He is well known for his innovative magazine design and use of experimental typography. David Carson was perhaps the most influential graphic designer of the 1990s. In particular, his widely imitated aesthetic defined the so-called "grunge typography" era

I liked the composition to this piece as i was still able to read the writing yet it just looks like lots of randomly scattered letters.

David Carson is my most favourite graphic designer i have come across during the research tasks. I particularly like the use of text/typography for there are large amounts of it rather than just one word, something i just prefer. I like how some pieces of text are layered up over other words, it gives it a sketchy look although it has obviously been done on a computer. Even using text as a background for text to go on is something he has done and i am very fond of.
