Week 1 - Fashion - Designer Included (Issey Miyake)

Fashion - Task 3

I practised with different methods to manipulate card. One was was by scoring it and then allowing the scored line to fold. Scoring in a curved shaped worked nicely as it made the fold line very neat and precise.

Folding the paper was another way to manipulate the paper. It is simple yet can be very effective.

I liked how the folds in the card stood off of the mannequin, creating lots of different shapes when it is looked at from different angles.

Issey Miyake

I came across Issey Miyake during the Fashion project. He is a Japanese fashion designer well known for his technology driven clothing. One thing i noticed is the amounts of folds/creases he applies to his materials, i find these very effective as they are very noticable. They are something i can relate to as i did this quite a lot whilst making my card garments.
